Safety and Efficacy of Reperfusion Therapies for Acute Ischemic Stroke Patients With Active Malignancy
Background and Purpose: Epidemiological correlations between active malignancy (AM) and acute ischemic stroke (AIS) are well-established. However, the effect of reperfusion strategies, particularly mechanical thrombectomy (MT), has been barely investigated in patients with AIS and AM. We aim to evaluate safety and efficacy of reperfusion strategies in such patients. Materials and Methods: We performed a case-control analysis comparing patients with AM and AIS (AM group) to a group of cancer-free patients with AIS (control group).

Prospective Cohort Study of Carotid Intima-media Thickness after Irradiation
Carotid artery vasculopathy is a potential long-term complication after radiotherapy (RT) of the neck, resulting in cerebrovascular events. The underlying pathophysiology is not well understood and early markers are lacking. We aimed to study whether RT of the neck is associated with increase in carotid intima-media thickness (IMT) and stroke in the first 2 years after RT in patients with head and neck cancer (HNC).

An Embolic Stroke in a Patient With PROC p.Lys193del
We report a 58-year-old woman who suddenly developed brain infarction with weakness of the left lower extremity and left perioral dysesthesia during postoperative tamoxifen therapy for breast cancer and prednisolone therapy for rheumatoid arthritis. Diffusion-weighted images detected multiple areas of hyperintensity in the posterior circulation system of the brain. Association Between Weight Loss and Activities of Daily Living in Obese and Overweight Patients after Stroke: A Cross-Sectional Study
Obesity is an important issue in global health care. Between 1975 and 2016, the proportion of obese individuals in the world nearly tripled. In fact, 39% of adults aged 18 years and older were overweight in 2016 and 13% were obese, using the traditional definition of overweight and obesity, namely, a body mass index (BMI)> 25 kg/m2 and> 30 kg/m2, respectively.1 Obesity is associated with a significant increase in mortality2,3 and the risk of many disorders, including metabolic and cardiovascular disease,4 cancer,5 infection,6 and physical limitations,7 as well as increasing healthcare costs.

Endovascular Therapy is Effective for Large Vessel Occlusion Despite Concurrent Cancer
Ischemic stroke and concurrent cancer is increasingly recognized. However, optimal management is uncertain. As mechanical thrombectomy has become the standard of care for large vessel occlusion, more patients with cancer are presenting for embolectomy. However, it is unknown whether this subgroup has the same benefit profile described in multiple randomized trials for thrombectomy for large vessel occlusion. Our objective was to retrospectively evaluate a North American embolectomy database for safety and outcomes in patients with active cancer.

In-stent Thrombosis after Carotid Artery Stenting Despite Sufficient Antiplatelet Therapy in a Bladder Cancer Patient
We present a case of early IST after CAS despite sufficient antiplatelet therapy in a patient with bladder cancer. A 77-year-old man under preventive triple antiplatelet therapy underwent CAS without any intra- or periprocedural complications. However, the patient developed a large asymptomatic IST 6 days after CAS. Anticoagulant therapy with argatroban was reintroduced to treat IST concomitant with antiplatelet agents.
