Novo Nordisk gets approval to carry out clinical trials on weekly insulin
Novo Nordisk has received approval from the Drug Controller General of India to conduct phase-III studies for its new weekly insulin injection, IcoSema, in India. IcoSema is a combination of insulin and Semaglutide and is meant to control blood sugar levels in people with type-two diabetes. AIIMS adds 63 drugs to free medicine list
"Sixty-three medicines have been added to the existing list," Dr M Srinivas said. Nearly 10 million could die of stroke annually by 2050: Lancet report
The number of stroke deaths in LMICs is projected to rise sharply - widening the gap with HICs - by increasing from 5.7 million in 2020 to 8.8 million in 2050. In contrast, stroke deaths in HICs are estimated to remain largely unchanged at around 900,000 between 2020 and 2050.
