Kidney Transplant: Non-Simultaneous Extended Altruistic-Donor Chain
As a result of donation of one kidney from a healthy donor to a complete stranger in 2006, the first non-simultaneous, extended altruistic-donor (NEAD) chain was created. The physicians involved now have sophisticated computer programs to help them match possible recipients to willing donors.
