Psychotherapy Tracks in US General Psychiatry Residency Programs: A Proxy for Trends in Psychotherapy Education?
CONCLUSIONS: Commonly perceived barriers to having a psychotherapy track may not be as limiting as they seem, and the diverse types of psychotherapy tracks may offer flexibility for programs seeking to design one. The finding that not all programs offer a full complement of supervision and didactics in core psychotherapy modalities is concerning for the future of psychotherapy training in residency programs. The presence of a psychotherapy track may be a proxy for the value a program places on psychotherapy education. The Impact of Mental Illness Disclosure in Applying for Residency.
This study aimed to answer whether disclosing a mental illness during the residency application process affects an applicant's success in the National Resident Matching Program. The authors hypothesized candidates disclosing mental illness would receive fewer interviews and would be ranked lower than those disclosing physical illness. METHODS: The authors randomized program directors from residencies accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) to receive one of two surveys. Both surveys included similar demographic information and three applicant vignettes, varying only in presence an...

Psychiatry Resident Attitudes Toward Practice Habit Data.
CONCLUSIONS: Residents generally desire increased dissemination of practice habit data that focuses on patient-oriented measures such as adherence to disease-specific guidelines and is both individual and team-based. Residency programs may benefit their trainees and improve resident-reported adherence to the ACGME requirement both by taking resident preferences into account and by addressing concerns about confidentiality when providing practice habit data.
