Friction and wear behavior of a mechanical oscillating strip system used for interproximal enamel reduction: a quantitative and qualitative scanning electronic microscope evaluation
CONCLUSIONS: The application of a standardized oscillating sequence allows for more efficient wear performance of the strips with a significant impact on their abrasive power and lifetime.PMID:38417457 | DOI:10.2319/083023-590.1 (Source: The Angle Orthodontist)

An evaluation of root resorption associated with the use of photobiomodulation during orthodontic treatment with clear aligners: a retrospective cohort pilot study
CONCLUSIONS: Clear aligner patients in this study who changed their aligners every 3 to 5 days and used adjunctive photobiomodulation therapy did not experience clinically relevant orthodontically induced external root resorption. Due to the small sample size and measurement error in the root segmentation process, the results should be interpreted with caution.PMID:38412960 | DOI:10.2319/081823-567.1 (Source: The Angle Orthodontist)

Spontaneous space closure in patients treated with early extraction of the first permanent molar: a retrospective cohort study using radiographs
CONCLUSIONS: The success rate of spontaneous space closure was high (84.3%) and was higher in the maxilla (94.1%) than the mandible (74.1%). Age at time of extraction and dental developmental stage of the SPM were significant factors for successful spontaneous space closure in the maxilla and mandible, respectively.PMID:38381800 | PMC:PMC10893924 | DOI:10.2319/061923-423.1 (Source: The Angle Orthodontist)

Evaluation of the anterior dentoalveolar relationship in skeletal Class III malocclusion patients with different vertical facial patterns using cone-beam computed tomography
CONCLUSIONS: There were differences in the inclination of the teeth, corresponding alveolar bone, and dentoalveolar inclinations at different positions among skeletal Class III patients with different vertical facial patterns. The roots were generally located on the labial side of the alveolar bone.PMID:38381801 | PMC:PMC10893926 | DOI:10.2319/081723-563.1 (Source: The Angle Orthodontist)

Efficacy of an experimental gaseous ozone-based sterilization method for clear aligners
CONCLUSIONS: The direct exposure of gaseous ozone on the aligners inside their packaging showed microbicidal capacity at 72 hours, which was equivalent to the positive control with immersion in chlorhexidine digluconate. This innovative sterilization procedure could be considered in the final manufacturing processes of clear aligners to eliminate the potentially pathogenic microorganisms that are deposited on surfaces of these orthodontic devices.PMID:38381802 | PMC:PMC10893927 | DOI:10.2319/061623-421.1 (Source: The Angle Orthodontist)
