Insights into rural generalist therapeutic reasoning using a simulated multi-patient emergency scenario
CONCLUSION: This study explored the therapeutic reasoning of rural generalists using a simulated multi-patient emergency scenario. The mental model developed serves as a starting point when discussing therapeutic reasoning and is likely to be useful when providing education to medical students and junior doctors who are working in rural and remote contexts where resources and personnel may be limited.PMID:38043133 | DOI:10.22605/RRH8365 (Source: Rural and Remote Health)

The effectiveness of continuing education programmes for health workers in rural and remote areas: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: The results of this study showed that continuing education programs are an effective way to address the lack of knowledge and skills among health workers in rural and remote areas. Few studies have examined the effectiveness of education programs for health workers in rural and remote areas in improving patient health outcomes. It is not yet known whether the delivery of continuing education programs to health workers in rural areas has a positive impact on patient and community health. Future attention should continue to be paid to the impact on these outcomes.PMID:38031243 | DOI:10.22605/RRH8275 (Source: Rural and Remote Health)

Joint exposure to urban-rural status and medically underserved area residence and risk of severe COVID-19 outcomes in 2020
CONCLUSION: In 2020, the risk of severe COVID-19 was more pronounced in urban counties and underserved areas. Results highlight the need for locality-based public health recommendations that account for rural and underserved areas and may inform future pandemic preparedness by identifying counties most in need of resources and education at various stages of the pandemic.PMID:38029744 | DOI:10.22605/RRH8373 (Source: Rural and Remote Health)
