Poststroke Fatigue Is Related to Motor and Cognitive Performance: A Secondary Analysis
Conclusions:
Functional gait, balance, and cognitive performance are associated with PSF. Fatigue should be considered when planning and delivering interventions for individuals with stroke. Future studies are needed to explore the potential efficacy of balance and cognitive training in PSF management.

Interindividual Balance Adaptations in Response to Perturbation Treadmill Training in Persons With Parkinson Disease
Conclusions:
Our findings suggest that PTT is beneficial to improve reactive balance in PwPD. Further, PTT appeared to be effective only for a part of PwPD, especially for those with lower balance and cognitive function, which needs further attention.

Distance-Induced Changes in Walking Speed After Stroke: Relationship to Community Walking Activity
Background and Purpose:
Physical inactivity is a major contributing factor to reduced health and quality of life. The total distance walked during the 6-Minute Walk Test is a strong indicator of real-world walking activity after stroke. The purpose of this study was to determine whether measurement of distance-induced changes in walking speed during the 6-Minute Walk Test improves the test's ability to predict community walking activity.

The Effect of Stroke on Middle Cerebral Artery Blood Flow Velocity Dynamics During Exercise
Background and Purpose:
Previous work demonstrates that older adults have a lower response in the middle cerebral artery velocity (MCAv) to an acute bout of moderate-intensity exercise when compared with young adults. However, no information exists regarding MCAv response to exercise after stroke. We tested whether MCAv response to an acute bout of moderate-intensity exercise differed between participants 3 months after stroke and an age- and sex-matched control group of older adults (CON). Mental Singing Reduces Gait Variability More Than Music Listening for Healthy Older Adults and People With Parkinson Disease
Conclusions:
Matching movement to one's own voice improves gait characteristics while reducing gait variability for older adults and people with PD. Optimizing the use of internal cues to facilitate movement is an important step toward more effectively meeting the needs of people with gait disorders related to aging or neurological disease.

Belief, Confidence, and Motivation to Use the Paretic Upper Limb in Daily Life Over the First 24 Weeks After Stroke
Conclusions:
High levels of belief, confidence, and motivation appear consistent over the first 6 months after stroke. The lack of correlations between psychosocial factors and clinical measures suggests belief, confidence, and motivation may not be vulnerable to functional status early after stroke.

Central Conditions Mimicking Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo: A Case Series
Discussion:
The presence of central positioning nystagmus may be the sole presenting feature of serious neurological conditions such as posterior fossa tumor. It is recommended that a diagnosis of BPPV can only be made if Dix-Hallpike or supine roll maneuver elicits nystagmus that is consistent with BPPV. Any features of the nystagmus, which are not consistent with BPPV, should raise suspicion of central pathology, and warrant further investigation.

Measuring Community Mobility in Survivors of Stroke Using Global Positioning System Technology: A Prospective Observational Study
Conclusions:
Directly measured community mobility in SS was decreased through 9 weeks following discharge from inpatient rehabilitation. The limited strength of bivariate correlations between clinical measures and number of trips supported the uniqueness of the community mobility construct.

Exergaming-Based Dexterity Training in Persons With Parkinson Disease: A Pilot Feasibility Study
Conclusions:
The outcomes of this pilot study suggest that exergaming is feasible and has potential to improve dexterity in individuals with PD. Its efficacy should be investigated in a properly powered randomized controlled trial.

Conclusion:
Despite recommendations to include stroke patients in PAC selection and goal setting, many former inpatient rehabilitation facility and skilled nursing facility patients report not being involved in either aspect of care.

Peripheral Vestibular and Balance Function in Athletes With and Without Concussion
Background and Purpose:
According to the most recent consensus statement on management of sport-related concussion (SRC), athletes with suspected SRC should receive a comprehensive neurological examination. However, which measures to include in such an examination are not defined. Our objectives were to (1) evaluate test-retest reliability and normative data on vestibular and balance tests in athletes without SRC; (2) compare athletes with and without SRC on the subtests; and (3) identify subtests for concussion testing protocols.
