ENT Manifestations in Patients Suffering from COVID-19: Study from a COVID Hospital in North India
Conclusion Knowledge of the ENT manifestations of COVID-19 is essential for its early identification and to devise appropriate prevention protocols for the benefit of health care workers (HCWs) and of the general population. Safety for the Rhinologist in the Age of COVID-19: Mask Use, Nasal Corticosteroids, Saline Irrigation, and Endoscopic Procedures – Literature Review
Conclusion N95 respirators are essential for the adequate protection of otolaryngologists. If reuse is necessary, physical methods of sterilization must be employed. No evidence was found to contraindicate the use of nasal corticosteroids, whether acute (in the management of sinonasal inflammatory conditions) or continued (in patients who use them chronically). Nasal irrigation with saline solution apparently does not increase the risk in the context of COVID-19. Nasal endoscopic procedures should only be performed after testing the patient for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), and the surgica...

Rhinological Status of Patients with Nasolacrimal Duct Obstruction
Conclusion It was demonstrated that the rhinological status of patients with PANDO was worse than that of patients with SALDO and of subjects in the control group. Revision Stapedotomies: the Role of Periprosthetic Scar Tissue Formation in the Development of Unsatisfactory Hearing Results after Stapedotomy
Conclusion The revision stapedotomy is an efficient treatment option in case of persistent ABG. Periprosthetic adhesions are the most common intratympanic reasons for compromised audiological outcomes after stapedotomy.Adhesion formations have the same negative effect on ABG development as any other surgical failure, and the revision could be more challenging in these cases. These findings highlight the use of the most atraumatic surgical technique and preservation of intact intratympanic mucosa during middle ear surgery. [...] Thieme Revinter Publicações Ltda. The Role of Eye Color in the Emergence of Tinnitus in Silence
Conclusion When exposed to reduced auditory stimulation, 3 out of 5 normal-hearing people are likely to experience tinnitus. However, there was no relationship between eye color and the perception of tinnitus in silence. Although melanin has been shown to play a role in the protection of the ear against noise trauma and the effects of age-related hearing loss, its role in the emergence of tinnitus needs further investigation. Diagnostic Performance of Digital Radiograph and Low-Dose Computed Tomography for the Diagnosis of Fishbone Retention in the Oropharynx
Conclusion Most of the common fishbones in Southeast Asia could not be visualized by digital radiograph when embedded in the neck. Technical Note: First Use of Endonasal Confocal Laser Endomicroscopy – Feasibility and Proof of Concept
Conclusion Our results suggest that endonasal application of p-CLE represents a valuable extension of the diagnostic repertoire available to date by an additional real-time analysis of the nasal mucosa. This is of particular value in surgically challenging anatomical areas such as the paranasal sinuses.Further investigation and validation will be necessary. [...] Thieme Revinter Publicações Ltda.
