30-Day Postoperative Morbidity of Emergency Surgery for Obstructive Right- and Left-Sided Colon Cancer in Obese Patients: A Multicenter Cohort Study of the French Surgical Association
Conclusion: Compared with lower BMI patients, obese patients with OCC had a more severe presentation at admission but similar surgical management. Obesity did not increase 30-day postoperative morbidity except stoma-related complications for those with left-sided OCC.Dig Surg (Source: Digestive Surgery)

Proximal Gastric Resection with Posterior Esophago-Gastrostomy and Partial Neo-Fundoplication in the Treatment of Advanced Upper Gastric Carcinoma
Conclusions: Proximal gastrectomy is feasible and may be safely used in patients with advanced GC after neo-adjuvant chemotherapy with acceptable survival. Posterior esophago-gastrostomy with partial neo-fundoplication reduces the postoperative reflux, while patients with persistent reflux symptoms can be effectively treated with an antireflux therapy.Dig Surg (Source: Digestive Surgery)

Laparoscopic Hepatectomy (with or without Robotic Assistance) versus Radiofrequency Ablation as a Minimally Invasive Treatment for Very Early-Stage or Early-Stage Hepatocellular Carcinoma
Conclusions: Compared with RFA, MIH provided better long-term survival outcomes in patients with early-stage HCC, with no increase in the incidence of complications. When feasible, MIH should be considered a first-line treatment for this patient population.Dig Surg (Source: Digestive Surgery)

Reduced Opioid-Demand and Fewer Pulmonary Complications after Laparoscopic Liver Resection in the Posterior Segments
This single-centre study aims to evaluate the advantages and limitations of laparoscopic liver resection (LLR) of lesions in the posterior segments (segments 6 and 7) in comparison to the open procedure. Institutional database between June 2014 and October 2017 was retrieved. The perioperative data and the surgical outcomes were analysed retrospectively. Out of 366 consecutive liver resections, 35 patients who met the inclusion criteria were identified. Twenty patients underwent open liver resection, while 15 patients underwent pure LLR. The technical challenge of laparoscopic access for lesions in the posterior segments c...

Heller Myotomy for Epiphrenic Diverticula Compared to Nondiverticula Esophageal Motility Disorders, A Single Institution Experience and Appraisal of Patient Characteristics, High-Resolution Manometry and Outcomes
Conclusions: Esophageal diverticula patients have a unique profile compare to patients with non-diverticula motility disorders. Operations are more complex, with increased complication rate and a longer length of stay. In spite of this, there is no statistically significant difference in symptomatic outcomes between the groups.Dig Surg (Source: Digestive Surgery)
