Correction to Schlichthorst et al. (2022).
Conclusion: Further detailed evaluations will help identify the specific contribution of individual components to the impact national strategies. Until then, countries should be encouraged to implement and evaluate comprehensive national suicide prevention strategies. Psychiatric emergencies and suicide attempts before and during COVID-19 lockdown in Spain.
Conclusions: We observed a decrease in the number of visits to the ER in general, as well as a lower frequency of patients with suicidal behavior during the first and only lockdown period in Spain, which occurred during the initial months of the pandemic. This is consistent with previous studies showing a reduction of suicidal behavior during periods of social emergency. However, this decrease could be only temporary, and several authors predict an increase of suicidal behavior in the aftermath of the COVID-19 crisis. Ensuring access to mental healthcare during periods of crisis is crucial for the population. (PsycInfo Dat...

Suicide-focused group therapy: A scoping review.
Conclusions: There are few evaluated therapy groups that explicitly address suicidal thoughts and behaviors. Available data indicate suicide-focused group therapy are generally feasible, acceptable, and may reduce suicidal-related outcomes. This is encouraging for future research; recommendations to include randomized controlled trials of the efficacy of suicide-focused group therapy are discussed. Childhood trauma and suicide: Associations between impulsivity, executive functioning, and stress.
Conclusion: These findings show that childhood trauma is associated with suicide risk in adulthood and suggest that poorer executive functioning and higher levels of impulsivity contribute to this increased risk. These results have implications for the development of future interventions to reduce suicide vulnerability. Suicide scripts in Italian newspapers: Women’s suicide as a symptom of personal problems and men’s suicide as a symptom of social problems.
Conclusion: In Italy, as in several countries with higher male suicide mortality, female suicide is psychologized and considered irrational while male suicide is viewed as a symptom of serious public-life/social problems, and therefore as deserving respect and empathy. The preference for social explanations of male suicide, together with the empathic attitudes, may contribute to male suicide being relatively more permissible and less stigmatized, and therefore also to men’s higher suicide mortality. Hotel suicides in Australia 2006–2017: Examining the frequency, characteristics, and spatial clustering.
This study investigated the frequency, characteristics, and geospatial clustering of hotel suicides in Australia to inform suicide prevention efforts. Aims: (1) To determine the proportion of suicide deaths that occurred in hotels, (2) to determine differences in demographic characteristics of hotel deaths compared to other locations, (3) to assess level of planning, and (4) to determine whether these deaths form geographic clusters amenable to targeted suicide prevention activities. Methods: Archival data on suicide mortality were used to examine associations between incident location (hotels, home, away from home), demog...

It is official, they are different – discrepancies between national statistical agency and register-based state suicide mortality statistics in Australia.
Conclusion: Despite different case definitions and coding practices, the two sources produced largely consistent data. They have complementary strengths: timeliness (suicide register data) and enabling cross-jurisdictional comparisons (ABS data).
