Helping a Patient With a Pre-Existing Mental Health Condition Cope With Depression and COVID-19 Using the Neuman Systems Model: A Single Intrinsic Case Study
This study applied the philosophical and theoretical basis of the Neuman Systems Model, which focuses on the use of primary, secondary, and tertiary nursing prevention for retention, attainment, and maintenance of patient system wellness, to a patient with pre-existing mental health conditions struggling to cope with depression and COVID-19 in a dedicated COVID-19 hospital in an urban area of Iran. < em > On Repentance and Repair: Making Amends in an Unapologetic World < /em > , by Rabbi Danya Ruttenberg
Creat Nurs. 2023 May;29(2):238-240. doi: 10.1177/10784535231195515.ABSTRACTRabbi Danya Ruttenberg's 2022 book, On Repentance and Repair: Making Amends in an Unapologetic World, questions the conventional wisdom that being quick to forgive is a virtue. Unless the person who has caused harm has acknowledged the harm, started to change, made restitution, apologized, and is now making different choices, forgiveness is not just unwarranted, it is potentially harmful to individuals and societies.PMID:37957124 | DOI:10.1177/10784535231195515 (Source: Creative Nursing)

Creating a Pathway to Health-Care Professions for Historically Marginalized Students
This article describes a 6-week immersive simulation-based summer program to introduce 20 junior high-school students (13-15 years old) to the range of health professions. Because precollege students typically receive limited exposure to clinical settings, high-fidelity simulation is an excellent surrogate for providing realistic experiences in health care. Students heard lectures on health careers, earned basic life support certification, learned to perform basic vital signs measurement, practiced the management of acute asthma, and received an introduction to the daily activities in the life of a nurse and an anesthesiol...
