Out-of-hospital or pre-hospital: Is it time to reconsider the language used to describe and define paramedicine?
The professionalisation of paramedicine in Australasia necessitates discussion about how the profession defines and describes itself in the literature and more broadly. This editorial discusses the descriptors pre-hospital care and out-of-hospital care, and the connotations, relevance and implications of their use to describe paramedic roles and practice. Factors influencing door-to-triage- and triage-to-patient administration-time
Overcrowding decreases quality of care. Triage and patient administration are possible bottlenecks. We aimed to identify factors influencing door-to-triage- and triage-to-patient administration-time in a prospective observational study at a tertiary care center with 70,000 patients per year. How do paramedics cope? A scoping review
Exposure to repeated trauma is an inherent component of paramedicine. Additionally, paramedics are exposed to threats that can undermine healthy workplaces, social connectedness, and health behaviour, predisposing them to overwhelming distress and unhealthy coping, including suicidality and psychiatric disorders. This scoping review aimed to identify how paramedics cope. PubMed, PsycINFO and CINAHL were searched between January 1, 2010, to April 21, 2021. Studies were included if they used any research design to identify specific coping strategies used by paramedics. (Source: Australasian Emergency Nursing Journal)

Effect of delayed transport on clinical outcomes among patients with cardiac arrest during the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic.
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has prompted many changes. Revised cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) recommendations were issued including increased requirement for personal protective equipment (PPE) during CPR and isolation rooms. We hypothesized that these changes might have affected transport times and distance. Accordingly, we investigated any differences in transport time and distance and their effect on patient neurologic outcomes at hospital discharge. (Source: Australasian Emergency Nursing Journal)
