Visiting the USSR: a trip of a lifetime.
Authors: Brown G Abstract To Russia, who me? That is actually how it all began. A decade or more ago, I had the opportunity to visit what was then known as the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), Russia. Although, this place held high priority on my list of places to go, I never thought such a trip was within my reach. This idea was quite fascinating to me because of the events that did happen there, including the Russian space ship Sputnik and the dog, the high stepping military officers, Red Square and the St. Basil's Cathedral. After reading a lot about Russia, I thought it would be great to see...

Correlates of physical activity and the theory of planned behavior between African American women who are physically active and those who are not.
Authors: Carter-Parker K, Edwards KA, McCleary-Jones V Abstract Many people have positive intention to engage in physical activity but fail to act. In general, Physical activity (PA) levels among Americans are declining. However, when compared to all other racial groups, middle aged African American women (AAW) have the lowest rate of PA participation. The lack of physical activity has dire illness consequences for AAW Despite significant efforts to increase physical activity to levels that benefit health, the need to understand successful translation of intention to engage in physical activity, attitude, ...

Student nurses conducting research among their peers: lessons learned.
Authors: Blackstock S, Exner N Abstract Introducing real world experiences into nursing education is a challenge, but it is worth the effort? In this case, upperclassmen nursing students gathered data for a funded study; the study benefitted from increased subject responsiveness. The student-researchers benefitted from greater self-efficacy in nursing research and an increased professional self-image. They also saw firsthand the complications that occur in gathering data and felt that the research process became more real to them. The use of student researchers is recommended as an active learning techniqu...
