Addressing 4Ms of Age-Friendly Health Systems for Older Adults in Family Nurse Practitioner Education through Simulation-Based Learning

The population in the United States is aging, and our healthcare system is often unprepared to address the complex needs of older adults (Institute for Healthcare Improvement [IHI], 2020). Family nurse practitioner (FNP) programs have an important role to create a strong foundation in geriatric care in their education before students enter into practice. The authors went beyond didactic and clinical experiences in preparing FNP student to care for the older patient, developing an innovative approach using simulation and the IHI 4Ms framework.
