Practising medicine in the UK after doing specialisation training abroad

Hi, I'm just wondering how the system works if I wanted to return to the UK to take up a job as a consultant in a speciality (obs and gynae, for example)? The hypothetical details are: British citizen Went to a UK medical school Completed F1 in the UK Leave the UK to do speciality training abroad (e.g. Australia/Singapore) - and complete speciality training such that I would be a fully qualified consultant So at this point, if I wanted to come back to the UK, will I need to have completed F2 to be able to apply for the consultant posts? I understand I would not need to take the PLAB (as I am a UK citizen graduating from a UK medical school)? I've tried finding the information online but it's proving really difficult as they either seem to talk about local doctors or international doctors (i.e. those who did medical school outside of EU)! I know for example, to do the same thing in the USA (i.e. go there straight for the consultant posts), you will need to have passed the USMLE regardless of whether you did speciality training (residency) there or not. This is so confusing for the UK!! Any help (and/or personal/related experiences) would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
