Need for Psychiatric Rehabilitation Training for Mental Health Professionals

AbstractPsyR is a multidisciplinary field where professionals from psychiatry, clinical psychology, psychiatric social work, psychiatric nursing, and occupational therapists work in close liaison with a person with psychiatric disability and family, learning from each other, sharing perspectives, and being consistent as a team. Despite the presence of evidence-based practices in Psychiatric Rehabilitation, they are not implemented in routine practice. One reason is the lack of training in psychiatric rehabilitation for mental health professionals. This manuscript makes a case for such training.
