COVID-19 claimed the lives of 6,255   Canadians from the end of January 2021 to the beginning of July 2021. Significant excess mortality was not observed nationally during this time. Some provinces, however, did experience periods of excess mortality, generally coinciding with higher numbers of deaths due to COVID-19 over the same period.
