Contraception in women with medical conditions

Pregnancy in women with certain medical conditions can result in significant fetal and maternal morbidity and mortality. It is therefore crucial that these women are able to plan and space their pregnancies appropriately through the use of contraception. Obstetricians and gynaecologists will often encounter these women in the inpatient and outpatient setting and be asked to give advice about the suitability of contraception. In this case-based learning article we will consider how to assess a woman seeking contraception.
