Stakeholder perspectives on the clinical placement appraisal process in undergraduate nurse education: A qualitative study

Clinical placement in undergraduate nurse education provides the crucial link between theoretical knowledge and practical application (Ford  et al, 2016). It is a place where students are provided with an opportunity to engage with and understand the complexity of health service delivery (Halcomb et al, 2018). How students learn on clinical placement is complex (Dean& Sykes,  2020) and experiences within the placement influence a student's professional development (Henderson et al, 2012) and professional identity (Perry et al, 2018) as they prepare for nursing registration and entry into the profession.
