Woman Slaps Period Pads All Over Her Town For A Very Important Reason

In September, Elonë Kastratia noticed a tweet with a powerful statement: imagine if men were as disgusted with rape as they are with periods— #StayStrongLeah (@cutequeer96) September 29, 2014 The message got Kastratia thinking. And with International Women's Day being celebrated March 8, she decided to print that feminist message and a few others on sanitary napkins and post them on traffic signs all over Karlsruhe, Germany, where she lives. "I'm not sure if its illegal, but seriously I don't care [because] they are easy to [take off]," she wrote on Instagram. "The people on the street looked at it and thought about it! I wanted to make people aware of problems, and I wanted to provoke." Her message resonated far beyond Karlsruhe. One photo she posted to Tumblr has been seen hundreds of thousands of times. "I never thought that it would go [viral] like this," she said. "I wanted to only provoke the people in the city because there is so much sexism." today i shared some of those in the city, im not sure if its illegal but seriously i dont care bc they are easy to took of haha. I think its a good way to make attention on it. #feminism A photo posted by ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ e l o n ë (@elona_x) on Mar...
