The Reduction of Retroorbital Fat Volume: A Novel Ophthalmologic Benefit of Bariatric Surgery Induced Weight Loss
The association between obesity and high Intraocular pressure (IOP) as a risk factor for the progression of glaucoma remains unclear. One main factor that contributes to high IOP is the physical pressure exerted by the retroorbital fat. Bariatric Surgery (BaS) produces a decrease of several fat deposits in the body; therefore the aim of our study is to assess the behavior of the retroorbital fat after BaS.
