Potential Implications of Rapid Weight Loss after Bariatric Surgery on Obstructive Sleep Apnea Induced by Architectural and Volume Changes of the Tongue and Upper Airway

There is an association between obesity, Obstructive Sleep Apnea, and Upper Airway Volume (UAWV). Measurement of the Tongue Length (TL) and Height (TH) recently emerged as a non-invasive method of evaluation of the UAWV and tinge architecture. We hypothesized that bariatric surgery-induced rapid weight loss determines an increase of Upper Respiratory Airway volume.
