Musculoskeletal Injury and Pain Are Common and Significantly Disrupt Surgeons ’ Practices

Though it is well established that musculoskeletal injuries are common among surgeons, most prior research has focused on risk associated with various surgical specialties, rather than with various operative techniques. We sought to determine the epidemiology and associated burden of musculoskeletal injuries and pain at our institution and hypothesized that injuries and pain would be more common with certain operative techniques than others.
