Chem. Soc. Rev., 2021, Advance Article DOI: 10.1039/D1CS00469G, ViewpointAmy J. Thompson, Analia I. Chamorro Oru é, Akshay Jayamohanan Nair, Jason R. Price, John McMurtrie, Jack K. Clegg A critical review of the current understanding of elastically flexible molecular crystals is presented. A set of criteria are proposed to define an elastically flexible crystal, so that these materials may find applications among future technologies.
