Effect of Wound Contamination on Outcomes of Abdominal Wall Reconstruction Using Acellular Dermal Matrix: 14 Year Experience with More Than 700 Patients

This study of over 700 patients evaluated outcomes of abdominal wall reconstruction using acellular dermal matrix with increasing CDC levels of bacterial contamination. For the first time it was demonstrated that there was an increased risk of surgical site occurrence and infection but not hernia recurrence.
