One of the region's largest employers implements $15 minimum wage

One of the largest private-sector employers in the state has joined with other Greater Baltimore institutions in implementing a $15 an hour minimum wage. The University of Maryland Medical System announced Friday that it would raise its minimum wage to $15 per hour for its more than 29,000 employees. The change, which takes effect with the pay period beginning Sept. 12, will result in a pay raise for about 1,500 people or roughly 5% of the health s ystem's workforce. The new minimum wage applies…
