Technique for Imbricated Repair of Paraconduit Conduit Hernia

Ann Thorac Surg. 2021 Mar 29:S0003-4975(21)00579-8. doi: 10.1016/j.athoracsur.2021.03.053. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMinimally invasive esophagectomy (MIE) is associated with an increased rate of paraconduit hernia. Recurrences after repair are typically adjacent to the gastroepiploic vessel passage through the hiatus. This technique provides a novel solution and approach to prevent recurrence or re-recurrence after repair by imbricating the blood supply to the conduit within the conduit, allowing circumferential fixation while protecting the conduit blood supply.PMID:33794160 | DOI:10.1016/j.athoracsur.2021.03.053
