Outcomes of Carotid Revascularization in Patients with Contralateral Carotid Artery Occlusion

Carotid artery stenosis management in patients with contralateral carotid artery occlusion remains unresolved. Our study shows transcarotid artery revascularization (TCAR) is associated with favorable outcomes compared with transfemoral carotid artery stenting, independent of symptomatic status. Compared with carotid endarterectomy, TCAR was associated with decreased odds of in-hospital stroke only among asymptomatic patients.
