Update on Lipids and Lipoproteins

To the Editor In their JAMA Insights Clinical Update on lipids and lipoproteins, Dr Ference and colleagues emphasized the pivotal role of apolipoprotein B (apoB) in atherosclerosis and recommended the measurement of apoB levels to capture all atherogenic lipoprotein particles. However, this apoB assay is not readily available in many clinical laboratories around the world and is not completely standardized.
