AbstractPurposeTo compare the visual outcomes, predictability and rotational stability following implantation of Eyecryl toric versus TECNIS toric intraocular lenses.MethodsThis retrospective study included 100 eyes of 78 eligible patients who underwent phacoemulsification followed by implantation of either Eyecryl Toric IOL or TECNIS Toric IOL (n = 50 eyes in each group), using an intraoperative image-guided marker less system. All toric IOL implantations were performed under balanced salt solution. At 2 weeks, 3 months and 6 months, uncorrected (UDVA) and corrected distance visual acuity (CDV...
DISCUSSION: Ocular manifestations identified in this patient included intermittent esotropia, hyperopic astigmatism, epicanthal folds and ptosis bilaterally.PMID:34670449 | DOI:10.1080/13816810.2021.1989601
ConclusionsSpectacle wear in these European children started early in preschool and increased to substantial figures at school age. Among children with spectacle wear,>30% were already myopic, illustrating the urgency to implement myopia prevention strategies in child health centers.Key messagesEarly onset myopia is a public health issue. Of the 6- to 7-year-olds with spectacles 30-34% were already myopic.Monitoring of refractive errors and preventive lifestyle interventions are warranted.
This study aimed to compare surgically induced astigmatism (SIA) on the anterior and total cornea during cataract surgery through a 2.2 mm steep meridian incision.
CONCLUSION: Our novel technique incorporated the BIL technique with the addition of bean-shaped segments and a polypropylene 6/0 suture fixated at the sclera. In this way, we were able to obtain good centration and stability of the implanted IOL, as well as a good refractive outcome in all cases.PMID:34662920 | DOI:10.1055/a-1633-4316
