A unified theory for the circuit of atrioventricular nodal re-entrant tachycardia

AbstractAtrioventricular nodal re-entrant tachycardia (AVNRT) is the most common regular tachycardia in the human, but its exact circuit remains elusive. In this article, recent evidence about the electrophysiological characteristics of AVNRT and new data on the anatomy of the atrioventricular node, are discussed. Based on this information, a novel, unified theory for the nature of the circuit of the tachycardia is presented.
