Comparison of Drug-Eluting Embolics versus Conventional Transarterial Chemoembolization: A Cost-Effectiveness Analysis

I read with great interest the article entitled, “Comparison of drug-eluting embolics versus conventional transarterial chemoembolization: a cost-effectiveness analysis” by Wu et al (1), published in this issue of JVIR. Cost analyses are becoming—appropriately—increasingly important in medicine. This is particularly true for interventiona l radiology (IR) as we continue to generate data that clarifies the value proposition. We have a long way to go in this regard, and the authors are to be commended for their contribution to this important body of literature through an evaluation of the cost-of-care for patients undergoing hepatocell ular carcinoma (HCC) interventions.
