The Interplay of Depression Symptoms and Perceived Control in Older Adults: A Network Approach Perspective

Depression in older adults is a common but complex health issue leading to health sequelae such as diminished perceived control. Numerous depression interventions exist for older adults, but their effectiveness is limited. Network analysis conceptualizes disorders as results of symptom interplay and identifies central symptoms contributing to a disorder ’s development and severity. This information may provide insight into the most impactful intervention targets. Despite the clinical utility of a network approach, there is limited research about depression networks in older adults.
