Overnight admission after total ankle replacement – is it safe?

To evaluate readmission, complication and non-scheduled contact rates to the out-patient clinic within the first three months following total ankle replacement in patients planned for overnight admission.Data was collected retrospectively on all patients treated during the period the 11th of December 2015 to the 1th of December 2019 with three months of follow-up for all patients.In the study 116 patients were included. No difference in patient characteristics, readmission rates, complication rates or number of non-scheduled contacts to the outpatient clinic was found between patients discharged after one day when compared to those admitted>1 day.
