The report draws on employers ' feedback to identify best practice and sets out what government and the ALBs can do to help organisations sustain the wellbeing support employers have in place for NHS staff. It adds that the greatest risk to supporting staff and delivering the NHS People Plan is workforce shortages, at a time when the most recent vacancy statistics for the NHS in England showed more than 83,000 vacancies at the end of the three months ending 30 June this year, with more than 120,000 vacancies in social care. The report also highlights the profound leadership challenge of inequalities and the discrimination faced in every NHS workplace by BME staff.
