Patient Perspectives on Frame versus Frame-less Immobilization for Gamma Knife Stereotactic Radiosurgery

Gamma Knife (GK) stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) is facilitated through a rigid frame surgically fixated to the patient ’s skull. A frameless system consisting of a thermoplastic mask with infrared optical tracking of a nose marker is also currently available on GK. The purpose of this study was to assess patient satisfaction and perspective on the use of frame versus frameless immobilization systems for GK-SRS.
