In Reply Dr Rousseau vigorously defends the role of physicians in addressing social determinants of health for the benefit of their patients. I agree with him up to the point of expecting physicians to be responsible for resolving the socioeconomic deficiencies that affect their patients. Knowledgeable —yes. Aware—yes. Supportive—yes. Responsible—no.
