Endocapsular haematoma: An unusual complication of phacoemulsification and non-penetrating deep sclerectomy.

DISCUSSION: To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported case of endocapsular haematoma as a complication of non-penetrating glaucoma surgery that has been successfully solved by a YAG capsulotomy. PMID: 32653318 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

ABSTRACT Purpose: The renin-angiotensin system is involved in the pathogenesis of retinal ischemic conditions and glaucoma. Our objective was to evaluate the renin, angiotensinconverting enzyme 1, and angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 activities in aqueous humor and blood samples of patients with and without primary open-angle glaucoma. Methods: We analyzed samples from 56 participants who underwent ocular surgeries. The patients were divided into two groups: patients with cataract alone (n=28) and patients with cataract and primary open-angle glaucoma (n=28). Venous blood (2 ml) and aqueous humor (150 µl, via paracent...

Abstract PURPOSE: To evaluate the long-term efficacy and safety of the modified canaloplasty technique with additional suprachoroidal drainage in patients with pseudoexfoliation glaucoma. METHODS: This retrospective clinical trial included 131 patients with pseudoexfoliation glaucoma who underwent canaloplasty with suprachoroidal drainage (scD). One hundred and eleven of 131 patients underwent the follow-up examination after 48 months. Primary endpoints were the pressure-lowering and drug-sparing effect as well as the success rates. Secondary endpoints were intra- and postoperative complications and the ...

Abstract PURPOSE: To compare between mitomycin C alone, porcine extracellular matrix alone, and combined low dose mitomycin C with porcine extracellular matrix in term of efficacy and safety in phaco-trabeculectomy surgery. STUDY DESIGN: Prospective comparative. METHODS: Sixty eyes of 60 patients complaining of primary open angle glaucoma and cataract, undergoing phaco-trabeculectomy, were distributed into three groups: group I: surgery was augmented with mitomycin C, group II with porcine extracellular matrix, and group III with porcine extracellular matrix combined with low dose mitomycin C. Intraocula...

Authors: Konopińska J, Kozera M, Kraśnicki P, Mariak Z, Rękas M Abstract Background: Evaluation of efficacy of the iStent trabecular bypass implant in reducing intraocular pressure (IOP) depending on the value pretreatment IOP and number of medications used before surgery in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) and pseudoexfoliative glaucoma (PXG) and coexisting cataract. Methods: A prospective, uncontrolled, interventional case series. 72 patients, on a mean age of 72.42 ± 9.17, were divided into two groups depending on baseline IOP: group I

Abstract A visual deterioration due to opacification of the intraocular lens was observed 3 weeks after uncomplicated combined minimally invasive glaucoma and cataract surgery. Due to the patient's failure to apply the prescribed postoperative local anti-inflammatory eyedrops, homogeneous fibrin coating on the anterior surface of the lens occurred, as well as early scarring of the filtering bleb. We performed needling with 5‑fluorouracil and lens polishing with the Nd:YAG laser to achieve sufficient pressure control and vision improvement. PMID: 32681299 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Authors: El Afrit MA, Saadouli D, Hachicha G, Ben Mansour K, El Afrit N, Yahyaoui S Abstract INTRODUCTION: There is uncertainty regarding the outcomes of glaucoma surgery for patients with advanced glaucoma, because it may be associated with the «wipe out» phenomenon. The aim of this study was to evaluate the outcome of surgical treatment in advanced glaucoma. METHODS: This retrospective study included 67eyes of 49 patients with end-stage glaucoma in which glaucoma surgery was carried out. The clinical records prior to and after surgery were reviewed. Follow up period was 14.4months. RESULTS: Th...

Study Design. Retrospective study. Methods: The study included 46 eyes from 36 XFG patients, 85 eyes from 53 primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) patients, and 54 eyes from 35 normal-tension glaucoma (NTG) patients. Age, duration of previous glaucoma treatment, intraocular pressure, medication scores, visual function, and surgical procedure were compared among the three patient groups. Results: The XFG gr...

This study aimed to provide results of the triple surgical procedure for such conditions. Methods: 12 eyes of 12 patients with NVG and dense cataract were included in this case series study. The mean age of patients was 57.25 ± 5.9 years. The mean preoperative intraocular pressure (IOP) was 47.25 ± 4.04 mmHg with maximum antiglaucoma therapy. The mean best corrected distant visual acuity (BCDVA) in LogMAR was 2.13 ± 0.38. All patients received intravitreal injection of 1.25 mg (0.05 ml) bevacizumab followed by phacoemulsification, pars ...
