Qahtani The motion of a water droplet in a hydrophobic wedge fixture was examined to assess droplet rolling and spinning for improved dust mitigation from surfaces. A wedge fixture composed of two inclined hydrophobic plates had different wetting states on surfaces. Droplet rolling and spinning velocities were analyzed and findings were compared with the experiments. A wedge fixture was designed and realized using a 3D printing facility and a high speed recording system was adopted to evaluate droplet motion in the wedge fixture. Polycarbonate sheets were used as plates in the fixture, and solution crystallization and ...

We report the case of a 64 years old women who presented with global dehydration and severe hypernatremia. Four years ago, she was hospitalized for nephrogenic diabetes insipidus related to a self-induced lithium intoxication. Persistent nephrogenic insipidus diabetes after cessation of lithium therapy are described in literature, and this hypothesis may be consistent with this case report. In this study, we found that photosynthetic rate (Pn), stomatal conductance (Gs), transpiration rate (Tr), and chlorophyll (Chl) content significantly decreased when soil water potential reached to −15 kPa in the AWD irrigation regime. Under AWD (−15 kPa), Genes were found to be differentially expressed in photosynthesis‐related pathways, namely Chl biosynthesis, photosynthesis‐antenna proteins pathway, photosynthesis process, and Abscisic acid (ABA) pathways. AbstractAlternate wetting and drying (AWD) irrigation has been widely used to replace continuous flooding (CF), which does not result in yield l...

Acquired Haemophilia A is a rare acquired bleeding disorder caused by autoantibodies directed against Factor VIII, which neutralize FVIII activity. These inhibitors differ from alloantibodies against FVIII which can occur in congenital Haemophilia A after repeated exposures to plasma-derived or recombinant FVIII products. In most cases the disease occurs suddenly in subjects without personal or familiar history of bleedings, with symptoms that may be mild, moderate or severe. However, only laboratory alterations are present in   ̴ 30% of patients. The incidence varies from 1 to 4 cases per million/year; more tha...

This study was conducted in a greenhouse evaluating CH4 and N2O fluxes in rice under five different irrigation management practices (continuous irrigation (CI), intermittent irrigation with flooding resumption in saturated soil condition (SSI) and soil moisture at field capacity (FCI), saturated soil and irrigation resumption with soil moisture bellow field capacity (FCS), and soil at field capacity (FCD)) and its relation to plant development and global warming potential (GWP). Soil electrochemical conditions and CH4 and N2O emissions were expressively affected by irrigation management. The CI system presented the greates...

ejos C, Boronat Tormo F Abstract OBJECTIVES: To analyze if there is a higher prevalence of sleep disturbances and hygiene disorders in patients with monosymptomatic enuresis (MEN) with respect to general population and to patients with corrected MEN. Assess the usefulness of the BEARS sleep disorder screening tool for children with MEN. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Transverse observational study (n=341) classified as: MEN (n=122), corrected MEN (≥ 1 one year without recurrence) (ANTENUR) (n=47) and controls (n=172). The BEARS childhood sleep disorder screening questionnaire was used. Clinical variables were colle...

AbstractWe studied HCl uptake by MgCl2 and sea salt over a relative humidity (RH) range from 0 –34% at 278–313 K using a differential bead‐filled flow tube coupled to a high‐pressure chemical ionization mass spectrometer. The results showed that dry MgCl2 and sea salt are essentially inert to gaseous HCl with a probability of less than 10‐6. However, under humid conditions, HCl was found to be efficiently taken up by wet inorganic surfaces. The HCl uptake coefficient for MgCl2 and sea salt increased squarely with RH, reaching a value of 0.00123 and 0.00171, respectively, at 29% RH and 298 K. Such wetting ...
