Combined use of endoscopy to guide laparoscopic management of intraluminal bleeding from the staple-line after sleeve gastrectomy: a video case report

Unlike Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB), in which intraluminal bleeding is relatively common from the anastomosis [1 –5], intraluminal hemorrhage from the staple line is extremely rare after sleeve gastrectomy (SG). Unstable hemodynamics after aggressive medical treatment will require emergency reintervention. The preferred option in the management of intraluminal anastomotic bleeding after a RYGB is gastroscopi c hemostasis, providing the anastomosis is accessible [1–5]. However, intraluminal staple-line bleeding after an SG may well be an exception to this management algorithm.
