Attitudes Toward Implicit Bias and Implicit Bias Training Among Pediatric Residency Program Directors: A National Survey

Implicit bias includes the attitudes and beliefs that exist beyond our conscious awareness that are not necessarily aligned with self-reported attitudes or explicit biases.1,2 Implicit bias influences medical providers in all specialties as early as the first year of training and can affect behaviors, thus impacting patient care.3-6 Despite this, little is known about the extent to which residency programs have begun to implement implicit bias training nationally and the importance placed on implicit bias training among residency program directors.
