Does it seem out of touch?

Does anyone feel selfish, out of touch, or guilty speaking to med schools about your application, when they are probably dealing with crisis situations in their network of hospitals, not to mention how they will deliver education to their existing students? Would a letter of intent be viewed as callous and out of touch? Thoughts... Does it seem out of touch?
