Shopping With Multiple Sclerosis
Between weather and schedules and a bit of MS thrown in, it’s been a while since I’ve been out to the shops. Today the skies are brighter and the rain is to hold, I feel more rested than I have in quite some time and though my legs are doing the pins & needles prickle… the cupboards are nearly bare.
It’s time to make it into the town for some shopping.
With American Thanksgiving less than a fortnight away, the holiday season about to burst open and just the weekly shopping needs, I thought it might be a good time to talk about shopping and MS. It’s something most of us need to do, that many of us have difficulties with and – I suspect – that some of you have worked tricks you might be willing to share.
This is one of those times that I realize that my old management adages work well for me. One of which was “There are two ways to manage things; by systems and by personality”. Well, sometimes MS takes over my personality abilities so shopping is definitely one place I try to employ “systems”.
Here are a few tips that work for me when I’m thinking about heading out for a few things or for a major haul. I’m not saying that it’s an all-inclusive list, I’m not saying that all of these ideas I use all of the time and I’m surely not assuming that I have all the answers. But I bet that we could come up with a pretty good list of ideas as a group.
