The utility of ultrasound examination in cubital tunnel syndrome caused by heterotopic ossification.

The utility of ultrasound examination in cubital tunnel syndrome caused by heterotopic ossification. Med Ultrason. 2020 Mar 01;22(1):119-120 Authors: Jačisko J, Sobotová K, Mezian K Abstract This case presents the utility of ultrasound examination in diagnostics, providing accurate therapy and follow-up of entrapment syndrome of the ulnar nerve, caused by heterotopic ossification. The heterotopic ossifications were in this case presumably linked to a long-term working with a vibration sander. PMID: 32096802 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Conclusions: Stone or sludge development in the gallbladder due to rapid weight loss after obesity surgery is quite common. However, we observed that the gallstone development decreased significantly with the prophylactic use of UDCA in patients who had undergone obesity surgery. PMID: 32233269 [PubMed - in process]

Abstract BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Thyroglobulin (Tg) is considered a sensitive indicator of iodine status for children and adults, but its usefulness for pregnant women is unknown. The aim of this study was attempting to explore the relationship between Tg and iodine status and the association between elevated Tg and thyroid diseases. METHODS AND STUDY DESIGN: A total of 2163 pregnant women were recruited in this study. The ratio of urine iodine concentration and urine creatinine concentration (UI/Cr) was measured in spot urine samples. Serum thyroid hormones and thyroglobulin were measured. Thyroid nodules...

ConclusionWe experienced an IPA presenting an US image that was atypical and has previously not been reported. IPA has no established US image to confirm the diagnosis and even with the use of other imaging techniques, a definitive diagnosis often cannot be established. Thus, our recommendation based on the current situation is that operation with intraoperative diagnosis using frozen section should be conducted if hypercalcemia and high I-PTH are observed and when localization sites in MIBI and US coincide.

AbstractObjectivesTo evaluate the usefulness of bilateral mammography in male patients with unilateral breast symptoms, including investigation of the diagnostic performance of unilateral and bilateral reviews and the average glandular dose (AGD) per exposure.MethodsTwo hundred seventy-one consecutive male patients (mean age, 57  years) with unilateral breast symptoms underwent bilateral mammography. Image interpretation was performed in two ways, first with a unilateral review of the symptomatic breast and then with a bilateral review. A modified BI-RADS scale (from 1 to 5) was used. The diagnostic performance of uni...

Conclusions: Evidence indicated effective ultrasound irradiation against immature mosquitoes in the water. This study provides a clear scientific basis for larvicidal properties induced by ultrasound emissions at laboratory conditions. The findings could be used for setting the ultrasound devices in the field investigations for achieving desired effectiveness. PMID: 32228339 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
