Single crystal X-ray diffraction showed that crystal is formed by the cation of N-didodecylphosphinoxido-4-nitrobenzyledenetetradecylammonium and the anion of 4-methylbenzenesulfonate in a 1:1 ratio and crystallizes in the triclinic space group P-1. Cations form dimers via N–H⋯O contacts with phosphoryl oxygen.Graphical abstract
