An International Perspective on Improving Physician Care in Nursing Homes

Improving the quality of care delivered throughout the long-term care continuum is a core mission of AMDA –The Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine. Four articles in this month's Journal report on how different forms of “communication” impact quality, albeit from different perspectives and across multiple jurisdictions. In the first, Mulhall and colleagues1 describe a provincewide ap plication of a proven quality improvement (QI) method (audit feedback) in Ontario that links nursing home (NH) physician prescribing patterns to publicly reported outcome measures.
