Perceptions of health care professionals towards clinical practice guidelines: The case of Diabetes Mellitus in Saudi Arabia

There is an international concern in the health field regarding the management, detection and control of Diabetes Mellitus. This is due mainly to two reasons, namely, the dramatic increase in the prevalence of the disease and its complications, and its social and economic impact, especially in developing countries [1 –3]. The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) estimated that the number of adults who were living with diabetes in 2011 was 366 million and it is expected to reach 693 million by 2045 [4,5].
