Our response to the Royal College of Physicians' report, Future Hospital: Caring for medical patients

12 Sep 2013 In response to the Future Hospital Commission’s report, Candace Imison, Acting Director of Policy said:'We warmly welcome today's seminal report from the Royal College of Physicians. It sets out a model of care that puts the needs of the patient centre stage and drives new ways of working for clinicians working inside hospitals and in the community. If implemented the result could be a step change in the quality of care delivered to some of the most vulnerable users of the NHS.'It throws down the gauntlet to other professional bodies to provide equally imaginative and patient-centred solutions to the problems we face in providing care to our ageing population.'It also challenges the notion that the only solutions to the problems faced by many hospitals are mergers or hospital closures, and provides ideas and opportunities to sustain more services locally.'Hospital boards and senior doctors need to demonstrate their commitment to transforming patient care by making this vision a reality.'
