NHC-Ni(II)-Catalyzed [3+2] Cross-Dimerization of Unactivated Olefin and Methylenecyclopropane. Angew Chem Int Ed Engl. 2020 Jan 14;: Authors: Ho CY, Huang JQ Abstract Cross-dimerization of methylenecyclopropane 1 (or 1¢) and unactivated alkene 2 over a typical hydroalkenylation reactivity was observed for the first time by using a new [NHC-Ni(allyl)]BArF catalyst. Results showed that the C-C cleavage of 1 (or 1') did not involve a Ni(0) oxidative addition, which is crucial in former systems. This emerges a complementary method for attaining highly chemo- and regio-selective synthesis of methylenecyclopentane 3 and broad scope. An efficient NHC-Ni(II) catalyzed rearrangement of 1 (or 1') was found liable for convergent synthesis of 3 in the presence of 2. PMID: 31943646 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
