Factors that influence venous leg ulcer healing and recurrence rate after endovenous radiofrequency ablation of incompetent saphenous vein

ConclusionsUGFS of the pathologic perforating vein at the time of RFA of saphenous vein reflux improved VLU healing. VLU recurrence was more frequent in patients with concomitant deep vein reflux. The authors suggest performing UGFS of the pathologic perforating vein at the time of RFA to improve VLU healing and monitoring of patients with associated deep vein reflux for ulcer recurrence.

Authors: Crapé L, Strubbe B, Cesmeli E, de Clerck F Abstract A 24-year-old male presented with abdominal pain, postprandial vomiting and weight loss. Lab results showed an elevated serum eosinophil count and CT-scan demonstrated a thickened antral, duodenal and jejunal wall. Repetitive endoscopic mucosal biopsies were normal. Work-up of eosinophilia-associated gastro-intestinal disorders excluded secondary causes. Bone marrow showed an elevated eosinophil count without arguments for a primary hypereosinophilic syndrome. Endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle biopsy detected a strongly elevated number of eo...

In this study, we investigated the benefits of the electrocardiogram (ECG)-based R wave pulse wave index (ERWVI) for the diagnosis of CA. MATERIAL AND METHODS According to CA examinations by color Doppler ultrasound, patients were assigned to positive and negative groups. The ECG R wave-Pulse wave transit time (ERWPTT) was obtained by synchronously collecting ECG signals (R wave in ECG) and the time variations in maximum finger pulse oxygen (DOP) on the ECG monitor. RESULTS ERPWI was positively correlated with sex, age, BMI, diastolic/systolic blood pressure, fasting blood glucose, uric acid, cholesterol and triglyceride l...

We report a case of a 15-year-old girl who presented acute severe pain, a tenderness and a palpable mass in the left upper abdominal quadrant in a context of known ovarian cyst. An ultrasound described an ovarian cyst with uncertain vascularization. An urgent laparoscopy showed us a normal left ovary and revealed a very unusual combination of isolated fallopian tube torsion, with a big fallopian cyst and an elongated tube folded over the mesosigmoid. We performed a cystectomy without salpingectomy. This case reminds that paraadnexal and adnexal cysts can be found outside the pelvic area especially in children.

ConclusionsA nomenclature of 54 actions in Rheumatology was compiled. Biopsies (bone, sural nerve, synovial), inpatient visits, visits to the patient's home, infiltrations in children, and the preparation of the expert report were identified as the most complex actions. Musculoskeletal ultrasound is twice as complex as subsequent visits, capillaroscopy or bone densitometry.ResumenIntroducciónUna misión de la Sociedad Española de Reumatología es aportar las herramientas necesarias para alcanzar la excelencia asistencial. En la actualidad no existe una referencia que cuantifique la complejidad de ...

ConclusionsPseudoerosions are common at the dorsal metacarpal heads, lunate, triquetrum, and ulna, which should not be mistaken for true inflammatory erosions. The characteristic appearances of dorsal joint capsules and recesses should not be confused with synovial hypertrophy.

Nonetheless, olive leaves (containing thin branches), which are separated during olives cleaning in the mill, have received little attention. In this context, a multiple response optimization was performed to maximize at once the yield, total phenolic content, oleouropein and antioxidant activity obtained by ultrasound...

AbstractParathyroid surgery is frequently performed after at least two preoperative localisation studies, in addition to the use of intraoperative ioPTH. The key to performing a successful parathyroidectomy is reliant on the surgeon having an outstanding knowledge of parathyroid embryology and anatomy. With this, it is possible to undertake surgery with a simple neck ultrasound and without more expensive pre- and intraoperative localisation studies.
